Tom Tiffany — Republican Candidate for U.S. House in Wisconsin, 2026
Last updated: March 4, 2026
Tom's Positions on Key Issues
Economy
HighTom Tiffany supports increased education funding, emphasizing accountability to ensure funds benefit children and families. He advocates for tariffs to enhance manufacturing competitiveness in Wisconsin and across America, aiming to bring back lost industries. Additionally, he promotes an "all-of-the-above" energy strategy to lower prices, including embracing nuclear power and avoiding the closure of existing base-load plants, to foster economic prosperity.
“So, in regards to energy, we need an all-of-the-above approach and we got to bring energy prices down. We used to be the second lowest in the Midwest, like, 20 years ago. We are now the second highest, and that is hitting people in the pocketbook. It's one of the things that I really disagree with the Evers administration, where we have $2 billion and counting of rate hikes in the time that he has been governor. That hits people every month with their utility bills. We need to bring the cost of energy down — and we can. I think we should embrace nuclear. We should not be closing down base load power plants that we currently have, and we got to make sure that we have affordable energy in order to be able to prosper here in Wisconsin." - Tom Tiffany, pbswisconsin.org”
Immigration
HighTom Tiffany advocates for strong federal immigration enforcement, emphasizing the necessity of federal agents, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to carry out their duties. He pledges to collaborate with federal authorities to facilitate the removal of foreign nationals who have committed crimes, a position he states is in contrast to calls from some Democrats to disband ICE. His immigration stance aligns with former President Trump's policies.
““This goes to what Gov. Walz has done here, where he’s refused to engage with the federal government,” Tiffany said. “He will not let federal agents be able to do their job in Minneapolis and in Minnesota. So I would just hope that Gov. Walz would work with the federal government for a change in regards to this.””
Healthcare
HighTom Tiffany voted against extending Affordable Care Act subsidies, a move that could affect healthcare coverage for an estimated 60,000 Wisconsinites. He supports initiatives to lower health care premiums through increased competition and patient choice. Tiffany voted for H.R. 6703, the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act, citing the goal of providing affordable plans by eliminating hidden prescription drug costs and expanding options.
“It’s giving people choice, transparency, and competition so they can pick truly affordable plans that fit their needs. Today’s bill does exactly that by lowering premiums, eliminating hidden prescription drug costs, and expanding affordable options for every American." - Representative Tom Tiffany, Statement on Vote to Lower Health Care Premiums, tiffany.house.gov.”
Climate & Energy
HighTom Tiffany supports an "all-of-the-above" energy approach, including nuclear power, to reduce energy costs. He voted for bills like the "Securing America's Critical Minerals Supply Act" (HR 3617) and the "Homeowner Energy Freedom Act" (HR 4758). While stating he does not want to reduce environmental standards, he received a 0% score from the League of Conservation Voters in 2025, indicating a record often opposing environmental initiatives. He also voted to limit environmental review for pipelines.
“So, in regards to energy, we need an all-of-the-above approach and we got to bring energy prices down. We used to be the second lowest in the Midwest, like, 20 years ago. We are now the second highest, and that is hitting people in the pocketbook. Abortion & Reproductive Rights
MediumTom Tiffany co-sponsored federal bills in 2022 to ban abortion after six weeks, initially without exceptions for rape or incest, later with these exceptions, and also a national 15-week abortion ban. He supported the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and measures to fund Pregnancy Resource Centers and provide resources for pregnant/parenting students. He opposes taxpayer funding of abortion.
Foreign Policy
HighTom Tiffany voted to support H.R. 8035, the Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024, providing $60.1 billion in security assistance. He also opposed H.R. 8369, the Israel Security Assistance Support Act, which would have allowed immediate delivery of security assistance to Israel without existing legal frameworks. Additionally, Tiffany supported H. Amdt. 231 to H.R. 2670, aimed at preserving flexibility for future nuclear arms control efforts. He has stated a commitment to working with federal authorities like ICE.
““This goes to what Gov. Walz has done here, where he’s refused to engage with the federal government,” Tiffany said. “He will not let federal agents be able to do their job in Minneapolis and in Minnesota. So I would just hope that Gov. Walz would work with the federal government for a change in regards to this.” - Tom Tiffany, Wisconsin Public Radio, 2026”
Education
HighTom Tiffany supports increasing education funding, provided there is accountability to ensure funds benefit children and families. He advocates for rewarding successful teachers and administrators, aiming to improve educational outcomes and raise standards. Tiffany also champions educational choice, believing that every child deserves a quality education regardless of their location, whether through public, private, parochial, or homeschool systems, and co-sponsored the Educational Choice for Children Act.
“So, I would be fine if we put more money into education. In fact, I expect that we will, but we need to make sure that it goes to children and families. We should pay good teachers more and I think we should reward administrators that are successful in their schools. We have to get back to where we reward success in education, and I think that's one of the way we fix this problem of us falling behind Mississippi. I'm not adverse to putting more money in, but there has to be accountability. — Tom Tiffany, PBS Wisconsin, "Tom Tiffany on issues in Wisconsin’s 2026 governors race"”
Gun Policy
HighTom Tiffany generally supports gun rights, having co-sponsored federal bills to legalize nationwide open carry and statewide concealed carry. He was endorsed by Donald Trump, who stated Tiffany would work to protect gun rights as governor. However, Tiffany faced criticism for comments regarding a shooting incident, with opponents stating his remarks about avoiding tragic consequences contradicted Second Amendment principles by implying restrictions on legally carrying a firearm.
““cooperation is how you avoid tragic consequences.” — Tom Tiffany, statement on ICE operations in Minneapolis, January 28, 2026”
