Elizabeth's Positions on Key Issues
Economy
HighRepresentative Van Duyne supports initiatives to foster economic growth and job creation, evidenced by her role as Vice Chair of the New Economy Tax Team. She cosponsored the Saving Gig Economy Taxpayers Act to repeal a tax policy impacting cash app users and supported the Main Street Tax Certainty Act to extend small business deductions. Van Duyne also voted for the Critical Mineral Dominance Act and the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026. She also hosted a large job fair for North Texans.

Immigration
HighElizabeth Van Duyne introduced the Voter Eligibility Verification Act, requiring timely citizenship data from USCIS to protect election integrity by ensuring only eligible ballots are cast. She also introduced The Recouping Funds from Sanctuary Cities Act of 2025, which aims to penalize jurisdictions that restrict information sharing on immigration status or refuse to honor DHS detainers for criminal aliens. She cites concerns for public safety and election security as reasons for these legislative efforts.
““By actively harboring and protecting criminal illegal aliens, sanctuary cities create unnecessarily dangerous circumstances for both law enforcement and law-abiding citizens all across our country,” said Rep. Van Duyne. “I know, firsthand, from my time as Mayor of the City of Irving, TX how easy it is to coordinate local law enforcement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations to apprehend and deport criminal aliens. Through this relationship with ICE, we removed thousands of criminal aliens and Irving became the 5th safest city in America, not only for American citizens but also for immigrant populations who are the most likely to be preyed upon by violent alien criminals.””
Healthcare
HighRepresentative Van Duyne advocates for healthcare competition and patient-focused reforms to reduce costs and expand options. She co-led legislation to repeal the ban on physician-owned hospitals, believing this would increase access and improve quality through market competition. Van Duyne opposes the Affordable Care Act, citing concerns about rising costs, limited access, and decreased quality. She supports expanding health insurance choices, protecting pre-existing conditions, and allowing young adults to remain on their parents' plans until age 26.
“The main concern I hear from Texans is the price of coverage is only going up, families have less access to options, and a decrease in quality. It is for those reasons why she opposes the Affordable Care Act." - Rep. Van Duyne, vanduyne.house.gov/health”
Climate & Energy
HighElizabeth Van Duyne voted in favor of the Homeowner Energy Freedom Act and the Don't Mess With My Home Appliances Act in February 2026, indicating a stance against certain environmental regulations. She also supported the Securing America's Critical Minerals Supply Act. Van Duyne emphasizes conservation and advocates for technological advancements to reduce emissions, promote a smaller footprint for energy generation, and contribute to cleaner air, water, and soil. Her lifetime score from the League of Conservation Voters is 9%, with a 0% score in 2024.
“The fact that our climate is changing is undeniable. Indeed it has been changing since the end of the last Ice Age and on a warming trend since the end of the little ice age hundreds of years ago. As a person who believes in conservation and as a former Mayor who had a principal responsibility to ensure the people of Irving had a reliable and sustainable supply of water, I want our country to continue making advances in technology that reduce emissions, have a smaller footprint for energy generation, and contribute to cleaner air, water, and soil. Given the remarkable transformation in technology, especially here in Texas, that has allowed our country to become nearly energy independent and driven the development of more clean burning natural gas power plants, we are [...]”
Abortion & Reproductive Rights
HighElizabeth Van Duyne opposes abortion and has voted "Yes" on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in the House on multiple occasions, including January 2023 and January 2025. She reintroduces legislation aimed at prioritizing mothers over abortion by increasing health insurance access for women considering adoption. She asserts this legislation provides "critical support" and gives "countless newborns the right to life."
“Pregnancy is no small feat and the courageousness of unexpected mothers considering adoption needs to be acknowledged. Many women feel as if abortion is their only option due to the high costs associated with carrying a pregnancy to term. By increasing health insurance access for women considering adoption, we can cut down on fears of financial burden while providing the critical support needed throughout pregnancy journeys,” said Rep. Van Duyne. “This life saving legislation not only makes it easier for mothers to choose adoption over abortion, it will also give countless newborns the right to life. While some of my colleagues claim ‘abortion is healthcare,’ I encourage them to give courageous women the REAL healthcare they deserve.” (Rep. Van Duyne, from vanduyne.house.gov, November 2025)”
Foreign Policy
HighElizabeth Van Duyne has supported legislation related to veterans' affairs and defense, voting yes on the Veterans Accessibility Advisory Committee Act and the Veterans Readiness and Employment Improvement Act of 2025. She also voted in favor of the Pressure Regulatory Organizations To End Chinese Threats to Taiwan (PROTECT) Act. Additionally, she opposed a resolution to remove U.S. Armed Forces from Venezuela.
“Ms. VAN DUYNE. Mr. Speaker, I rise today on behalf of a grateful Nation and the citizens of the 24th Congressional District of Texas. The 2025 Congressional Veteran Commenda-tion is hereby presented to Lieutenant Colonel Don Munson, United States Army, of Coppell, Texas, for his honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States of America and for his continued service to his community. (Beth Van Duyne, Congressional Record, January 13, 2026)”
Education
HighElizabeth Van Duyne supports school choice, believing parents should have the primary stake in their child's education. She introduced the Combating Predatory Lending in Higher Education Act to include graduate student and parent loans in default rate calculations, aiming to prevent students from taking unrealistic loans. She also voted 'Yes' on the Department of Education Appropriations Act, 2026 (HR7148) and received a 100% score for "Educational Freedom" from TPAction.
“"Students should have the opportunity to pursue higher education without fear of predatory loans hindering their ability to learn and threatening their financial future," said Rep. Van Duyne. "It is my hope this bill will give aspiring students the ability to freely cultivate their young minds and reach their full potential."”
