Susie Lee — Democrat Candidate for U.S. House in Nevada, 2026
Last updated: March 4, 2026
Susie's Positions on Key Issues
Economy
HighSusie Lee supported and helped negotiate the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, which she states are creating hundreds of thousands of jobs nationwide. She has also secured over $5.6 billion in grants and federal investments for Nevada. Lee advocates for high-level coordination among energy stakeholders to ensure new generation and infrastructure, believing there is bipartisan support for renewable energy to address rising energy bills.
““I support law enforcement and the critical role that ICE should play in enforcing our nation's immigration laws. Violent criminals who are in this country illegally should be deported, and we have due process and laws that dictate how we enforce that. [...] “This vote is about sending a clear message: in America, we have laws that apply to everyone – including law enforcement. Over the summer, Republicans in Congress forced through a $150 billion blank check for ICE, funding these unconstitutional operations without guardrails or oversight. We must restore checks and balances to ensure ICE abides by the Constitution. Until then, I cannot support sending them billions in extra funding.” [...] “Had this DHS appropriations bill included appropriate reforms and accountability measures, I would have likely supported it. However, Republicans rejected several opportunities to ensure such guardrails were included, such as requiring ICE to obtain warrants, mandating officers wear body cameras and proper identification, enforcing use of force standards, and prohibiting arresting U.S. citizens." — Congresswoman Susie Lee, Congresswoman Lee Statement on Voting Against Funding Lawless ICE Activities, January 22, 2026”
Immigration
HighCongresswoman Susie Lee voted against providing additional funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), citing concerns about unconstitutional activities and the need for checks and balances. She co-sponsored the Dignity Act, a bipartisan bill for comprehensive immigration reform that includes border security and a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers. Lee also voted against the SAVE Act, which would impose new voter ID and citizenship verification requirements for voter registration, arguing against potential disenfranchisement.
“I support law enforcement and the critical role that ICE should play in enforcing our nation's immigration laws. Violent criminals who are in this country illegally should be deported, and we have due process and laws that dictate how we enforce that. This vote is about sending a clear message: in America, we have laws that apply to everyone – including law enforcement. Over the summer, Republicans in Congress forced through a $150 billion blank check for ICE, funding these unconstitutional operations without guardrails or oversight. We must restore checks and balances to ensure ICE abides by the Constitution. Until then, I cannot support sending them billions in extra funding. However, under this Administration, ICE has shown blatant disregard for the rule of law and gone well beyond its purpose, engaging in unconstitutional activities. Earlier this month, our country watched in horror as ICE agents shot a young mother point blank, and just yesterday we received appalling reports that a 5-year-old had been arrested and sent to a detention facility 1,000 miles away from his home. American citizens are being grabbed off the streets and out of their homes without warrants and mistakenly deported. As such, I will be voting against providing over $10 billion extra in taxpayer money to fund an agency that is blatantly violating Americans’ constitutional rights and terrorizing our communities. This is not law enforcement. - Congresswoman Susie Lee, Statement on Voting Against Funding Lawless ICE Activities, January 22, 2026”
Healthcare
HighSusie Lee voted against a House Republican health care plan in 2025, stating it would remove health care for 100,000 Americans and not extend the ACA Tax Credit. She advocates for extending the ACA Tax Credit to prevent costs from skyrocketing for families, co-sponsoring the Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act and signing a discharge petition. Lee also invited a single mother impacted by rising health care costs to the 2026 State of the Union to highlight the need to restore these credits.
“I have long said I am willing to work with anyone to save the ACA Tax Credit and prevent health care costs from skyrocketing for families this January. This is not a red or blue issue — it requires a bipartisan solution. Instead, House Republican leaders pushed forward their partisan health care bill — a cobbled-together mess that kicks 100,000 Americans off their health care and does nothing to save the ACA Tax Credit. Americans are facing catastrophic price hikes in a matter of days – the time to act is now. If Republican leaders fail to pass a bill that actually lowers health care costs, families in Nevada and across the nation will suffer.” — Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03), December 17, 2025.”
Climate & Energy
HighSusie Lee supports clean energy and environmental protections, evident in her co-sponsorship of the bipartisan SHINE Act to streamline residential solar permitting and the Large-Scale Water Recycling Reauthorization Act. She considers climate change an "existential" threat, advocating for drought mitigation funding from the Inflation Reduction Act. Lee also voted against the Homeowner Energy Freedom Act and the Don’t Mess With My Home Appliances Act, aligning with her support for energy efficiency standards.
“After I graduated from college, my first job was as an environmental consultant, handling water management, air quality, and other environmental issues. I have also been a strong advocate for conservation here in Nevada, and have a deep appreciation for the value of Nevada’s natural resources and public lands. In addition to being a strong voice for conservation, smart environmental protections, animal welfare, and environmental justice, I will be a leader in Congress when it comes to energy independence and combating climate change. I will continue to work to position Nevada as a leader in clean energy, and I will fight back against the damaging policies coming out of Washington that are threatening our environment. - Susie Lee, Ballotpedia”
Abortion & Reproductive Rights
HighSusie Lee opposes mandatory parental notification for minors seeking abortions and supports care for out-of-state abortion seekers. She champions legislation to codify Roe v. Wade, protect access to birth control, and assist women fleeing anti-choice states. Lee also supports the Access to Family Building Act to establish a legal right to IVF, stating that reproductive health decisions should be made by a woman and her doctor, not politicians. She is endorsed by Reproductive Freedom for All, and Heritage Action indicates she supported the "Abortion for All Act."
““I'm going to be very clear on this, that it is a woman's decision with her doctor and it should not be in politicians’ hands,” Lee said. “That's my position.” (Susie Lee, The Nevada Independent, May)”
Foreign Policy
HighCongresswoman Susie Lee voted against the FY26 Defense appropriations bill, citing concerns about provisions that would hurt her constituents and threaten national security, despite having secured funding for domestic critical mineral production within it. She advocates for a smart foreign policy that promotes American values and safety, ensuring a strong military and well-resourced diplomats. Lee also emphasizes supporting key allies like Israel to promote global stability and peace.
““I also used my seat on the Appropriations Committee to get funding for domestic critical mineral production included in the fiscal year 2026 Defense appropriations bill. I’m incredibly disappointed that House Republicans decided to play political games with that Defense bill and paired the critical minerals funding with provisions that would hurt my constituents like cuts to military readiness and servicemember health care. “I will never vote for legislation that hurts southern Nevadans or threatens our national security. As appropriations negotiations continue, I will keep fighting for the investments in America’s critical minerals supply chain to be included in any final government funding bills.””
Education
HighSusie Lee advocates for making education a top national priority, stating its importance for achieving the American dream. She supports increased funding for early childhood education and programs assisting students in poverty. Lee also champions expanded Pell Grants, college affordability initiatives, and strengthening apprenticeship and vocational training programs, believing these are crucial for students to succeed without being burdened by costs.
““Education: I have spent the better part of 20 years working with Nevada students, teachers, administrators, and community partners to improve educational outcomes for vulnerable students as the leader of nonprofits like After-School All-Stars and Communities in Schools. I know firsthand how important a good education is to achieving the American dream, and I will fight to provide a strong education to every Nevada student. I will push for increased funding for early childhood education and expanded Pell Grants and college affordability programs. I'll also fight to strengthen apprenticeship programs and vocational training because people should be able to lead a middle-class life without a 4-year degree. [...] Education must be a top national priority. We should invest in students and teachers from pre-kindergarten through college." — Susie Lee, Ballotpedia”
Gun Policy
MediumSusie Lee supports gun safety legislation. She voted to pass the Bipartisan Background Checks Act (H.R. 8) and supported the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (S. 2938). She also supported the Protecting Our Kids Act (H.R. 7910). Lee has been endorsed by Giffords and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, organizations that advocate for gun safety measures.
